NHRA - 200+-mph Pro Stock Division

Biography

Erica Enders, 21, is competing in the Cagnazzi Racing’s National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) 200+-mph Pro Stock Division. Team owner Victor Cagnazzi is currently building a sponsorship portfolio to support Enders’ move up to the pro ranks of NHRA drag racing.

Enders is one of the best-known young women in America. Her life story was made into a Disney Channel movie in 2003 entitled "Right On Track". The film was shown more than 100 times on the Disney Channel to an audience estimated at 50 million. The movie continues to be one of the most popular movies running on the Disney channel.

"Erica has the whole package – speed, popularity with fans and marketability,” said Cagnazzi. “She has shown talent, desire and dedication to succeed in a sport that has traditionally been dominated by men. From a competition perspective, she is ready for her biggest test, moving up to race against the established powerhouse teams. And from the marketing point of view, she is an outstanding role model that can deliver millions of young people to the brands of the companies that support her.

Enders has been a competitive drag racer since age eight. She has won hundreds of elimination and qualifying rounds, and 44 events. In 2004, she won the prestigious O'Reilly Nationals in Houston.

She also has media experience far beyond her youth. Enders has appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America, news network affiliates all over America, ESPN, TNN, Donnie & Marie, TeenTalk, Hard Copy and Extra. Magazine feature stories focusing on Enders have run in People, Southern Living, Blast, Parade, Teen People, National Dragster, Hot Rod, Car Craft, Motor Trend and Scholastic Scope. She lives with her family in Houston. Enders is a junior majoring in marketing at Texas A&M University in College Station.

As part of the program, Enders represents the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund. The fund, established in 1996, provides grants to researchers seeking a cure to breast cancer. Baldwin is the mother of actors Stephen, Alec, Daniel and William Baldwin.

Steve Johns, who successfully earned the debut team an impressive 8th-place finish in the ultra-competitive NHRA Pro Stock division last year, will remain with the team as Enders’ mentor and lead builder of the team’s 500-cubic-inch V8 racing engines.
